The slightly younger of two twins, the only children born to Sandalphon and Veruca Selwyn. Her twin brother is named Cicero and the two were inseperable growing up at Selwyn Hall. this continued during their time at hogwarts, where both were sorted into slytherin, and both played on the house quidditch team. veruca passed away the day before the twins graduated from hogwarts.
Sandalphon still lives at selwyn hall, although neither of the twins call it a permanent home anymore. he is sought out to create warding for locations, mostly pureblood housing these days, although he did work for the ministry as an unspeakable when he was younger.
Cicero and Sera are no longer close, something that neither one seems willing to talk about, but which stems back to the end of their time at Hogwarts.

career
Sera is a curse breaker of no small repute. Her specialties are warding magic (a skill learned from her Father) and de-cursing objects. She is one of the only curse breakers known for being able to be partnered with Lawrence Adair.
Her survival rate for training apprentices is roughly 25%. Something she is quite proud of.
She currently works for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, liasing with the Aurors, helping with items that are out of the scope of the Office for the Removal of Curses, Jinks and Hexes.
History
Hogwarts
Sorted into Slytherin right along side her twin brother, sera was known as Rara by most of her housemates, at the insistance of her brother. They were both very social, and quite well liked, although they could at times be elitist. This is something that got worse when they both made the quidditch team, cicero as seeker, and rara as a beater. cicero excelled as a seeker, going on to be scouted by a number of teams during his last few years at hogwarts.
the twins were rarely seen out of sight of each other during their time at hogwarts, and neither seemed particularly interested in maintaining anything beyond a friendship with members of the other sex. both knew that they had arranged marriages waiting for them. cicero hated his betrothed, Marianne Greengrass, where as the older they got, the more Rara and her betrothed, Taym Shafiq.
Taym and Rara found that the more they got to know each other, the more they liked each other, until eventually, they found themselves falling in love. they made plans to move when they graduated, taym being a talented potionmaker with an apprenticeship in cairo.
Cicero found about their plans, and not wanting to be seperated from his sister, hatched a plan. Using contacts he made through his cousins, he procured an exceptionally rare sleeping poison. One night he slipped into the dungeon where Taym had a potion simmering, slipping it into the cauldron, knowing that Taym planned on trying it himself. Potions had never been Cicero's strength though, and he didn't know about the reaction of the different potion ingredients, leading to Taym's death. Something Rara has long suspected him of, but Cicero has never admitted.
Her post-graduation plans in tatters along with her heart, rara threw herself into the more dangerous aspects of her studies that she was talented at, Defence against the Dark Arts, Charms, whilst also studying a lot of ancient runes, and Arithmancy, knowing her brother hated the classes. She then sought out an apprenticeship as a curse breaker, wanting to get far away.
South America
Wanting to get as far away from her brother as possible, and being fascinated with the thought of becoming a curse breaker, Sera made her way to peru to petition Angel De Leon to take her on as an apprentice. Angel spent a lot of time working in and around tombs and temples throughout South America. He had made his name as a trap maker, and trap disarmer without equal, although his background, and his passion was in creating enchanted items, in instilling magic into metal objects.
Sera spent a year petitioning him to take her on as an apprentice before she managed to convince him, by solving a series of puzzles that he had set, which was rumored to kill aspiring students who failed it. Angel had a very no-nonsense approach to his teachings. He would provide information where needed or asked for, but would always allow her to make her own mistakes, even if they proved fatal. He would step in if he could, but often with curse breaking, there isn't. Consequences are immediate.
It was one of these such learning experiences that led to Sera's hair turning white. They were working on a particularly tricky item, and Sera thought that she had solved it, not waiting for Angel to get back to test her thoughts. He came back to find her lying on the ground, energy leeching from her, and he managed to break the bond, but not without some residual consequences, the most obvious being her hair colour.
After her apprenticeship, Sera chose to remain in South America, working with Angel until he retired, both of them very successful at their tasks, making quite a fortune for Gringotts, and themselves.
Paris
After Angel retired, Sera finally gave in to a request from Gringotts to train more Curse breakers. Not wanting to do so in quite as much danger as she had been trained in, and also unwilling to listen to complaints about the jungle, Sera moved to Paris. This giving her access to sites throughout Europe to train Apprentices.
IIt was also during this time that she started working with Lawrence Adair more often on jobs that required the combined skills of both of them, when there was more to a job than a cursed creature or a cursed item.
It was also during this time that Sera started to take on more private consulting work. Curse breaking for the Sacred 28, and for various Ministries around the world. After a few years though, she finally gave in to a job offer from the Ministry of Magic, consulting with their Department of Magical Law Enforcement, returning to London for the first time in over a decade.
